In particular the present invention relates to the use of annabsorbent expanding material which upon absorption expands more thannthe absorbed volume of liquid requires in order to provide additional voidnvolume. In addition the present invention relates to absorbent articlesnsuch as baby diapers, adult incontinence products or sanitary articles innwhich the material of the absorbent core has a better liquid transportncapability into the thickness of the article than within the plane of thenarticle.
