titleOfInvention Differential protection device having immunity against nuisance tripping
abstract The present invention relates to a differential protection device for an electrical installation immune to nuisance tripping.n n n This device comprises, in a manner known per se, a differential transformer T, primary windings, E1, E2, E3, E4, a secondary winding ES, a trip relay (R) of a current breaking device (8) connected to the aforementioned secondary winding Es by a secondary connection circuit. This secondary circuit includes a means for clipping the secondary signal, for example a diode D, connected to the relay R so as to avoid an untimely tripping in the event of a spurious voltage peak while ensuring tripping for a fault current. This device is characterized in that the transformer T comprises at least two parts A, B, having different magnetic characteristics, namely a first part A consisting of a material with high permeability supplying the above-mentioned relay R with sufficient energy to trigger on low homopolar current intensities, and a second part B constituted by a material with low permeability supplying the relay R with sufficient energy to trip on strong homopolar currents.
