abstract |
An LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) including two substrates (23,33)nsandwiching an LC layer therebetween, and causing a pluralitynof different kinds of regions to coexist in the LC layer isndisclosed. An electrode (22) formed with an aperture (24) is providednon at least one of the substrates. A second electrode (25) is alsonprovided on the same substrate as the above electrode innalignment with the electrode. A voltage higher than a voltagento be applied between the electrode with the aperture and ancounter electrode (32) facing it is applied between the secondnelectrode and the counter electrode, thereby controlling thenrising direction of LC molecules (11). The LCD is easy to producenand achieves a great viewing angle. In addition, the LCncontains a polymer in order to fix the rising directions of thenLC molecules. |
