The process for purifying an alkanesulfonyl chloride (CAS) to reduce its sulfates content consists in washing the alkanesulfonyl chloride with water or with an aqueous solution of an acid having a pH between -0 , 57 and 7, then separating the thus purified alkanesulfonyl chloride from the aqueous phase.n n n This purified CAS leads by total hydrolysis to alkanesulfonic acid with a low sulfuric acid content. |
