abstract An aqueous ink jet receiving medium which yields a water resistant ink jet print and a process for providing a water resistant ink jet print are disclosed. The water resistant ink jet receiving medium comprises an ink receptive layer of a crosslinked vinyl amide acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or ester thereof random copolymer and a cationic resin. The random copolymer employed is preferably a vinyl pyrrolidone/acrylic acid or acrylamide/acrylic acid copolymer.
