abstract A semiaromatic polyamide which is composed of: (A) from 40 to 90 % by mol of repeating units derived from tere-phthalic acid and an aliphatic C4-12 diamine; (B) from 0 to 50 % by mol of repeating units derived from isophthalic acid and an aliphatic C4-12 diamine; (C) from 0 to 60 % by mol of repeating units derived from an aliphatic C4-18 dicarboxylic acid and an aliphatic C4-12 diamine; and (D) 0 to 50 % by mol of repeating units derived from a C2-60 lactam or an amino carboxylic acid, and which contains not more than 0.25 % by weight of components soluble in boiling water (MO components). Because of a reduced content of MO components, the obtained semiaromatic polyamide scarcely stains molds in the step of molding and can give molded articles excellent in heat resistance.
