titleOfInvention Endless power transmission belt construction, cord therefor and methods of making the same
abstract An endless power transmission belt construction (20), cordn(27, 37) therefor and methods of making the same are provided, nthe cord having the yarns (33, 39) and the plies (32, 38) thereofnrespectively twisted on a 2 for 1 twister so as to cause thenlongitudinal axes of the fiber filaments (34, 40) to be disposedngenerally in the longitudinal direction of the cord (27, 37), with thendenier of the fiber filaments (34, 40) of each yarn (33, 39) beingnapproximately 1500. The twist multiplier of the three plies (32) isn3.7687 as the plies are twisted together at a rate of approximatelyn2.9 turns per linear inch of the cord (27), and the twist multipliernfor the two yarns (33) is 3.6765 as the two yarns for each ply (32)nare twisted together at a rate of approximately 4.9 turns per linearninch of that ply. The twist multiplier for five plies (38) is 3.6986 asnthe plies are twisted together at a rate of approximately 1.8 turnsnper linear inch of the cord (37), and the twist multiplier for threenyarns (39) is 3.5838 as the three yarns for each ply (38) arentwisted together at a rate of approximately 3.9 turns per linear inchnof that ply. The fiber filaments (34, 40) comprise p-aramid thatncomprises co-poly (paraphenylene/3,4' oxydiphenylenenterephthalamide).
