titleOfInvention | Method of obtaining caprolactam by hydrolytic splitting of molten polycaprolactam |
abstract | Disclosed is a method of obtaining caprolactam from polymers containing caprolactam in the presence of superheated water. The proposed method is based on the use of polymers containing the repeating unit -[-N(H)-(CH2)5-C(O)-]- or mixtures consisting essentially of: 40-99.99 wt.% of a polymer containing the repeating unit -[-N(H)-(CH2)5-C(O)-]-;0.01-50 wt.% of additives selected from the group consisting of inorganic fillers, organic and inorganic pigments and dyes; 0-10 wt.% of organic and/or inorganic additives; 0-40 wt.% of polymers which do not contain polyamide; 0-60 wt.% of polyamides with the exception of polycaprolactam and copolyamides based on caprolactam. These polymers or mixtures are brought into contact with superheated water at a temperature of 280-320 DEG C and at a pressure of 7.5-15 Mpa, the weight ratio of water to the polymer containing the repeating unit -[-N(H)-(CH2)5-C(O)-]- being between 5:1 and 13:1 and the reaction time less than 3 hours. The reaction mixture consisting essentially of water and the polymers or mixture indicated above should contain no gaseous phase under the conditions of hydrolysis. |
