abstract An ink jet recording apparatus comprises an edgendetection unit that detects the positions of pixels innone pixel line in which data changes from 0 to 1 innaccordance with the data serially converted from ORndata in a state where the data representing OR of eachnrecording data on each ink color, and a dischargencontrol data formation unit that forms fixing processndriving data including data 1 at a given ratio to ANDndata obtainable by operating AND between the seriallynconverted data from the OR data and the detectionnoutput from the edge detection unit. With thenstructure thus arranged, it is made possible tonoptimally execute fixing process on the recordingnsurface in accordance with recording data without thenoccurrence of any color mixture due to the applicationnof fixing liquid.
