abstract The invention relates to a device for producing a honeycomb body (3) with a jacket tube (2) comprising a plurality of radially movable segments (5) by means of which the jacket tube can be deformed. The segments have a sliding surface (9) with a wedge-shaped cross-section. There is at least one annular, axially movable closure (7) surrounding the segments having at least one oblique surface (8) which slides on the sliding surface of each segment. To operate the closure (7) there is an actuating device (10) connected to the closure. The honeycomb body with a jacket tube is fitted in a space bounded by the segments. The closure is then moved axially so that its surface slides on a sliding surface with a wedge-shaped cross-section on each segment, shifting the segments radially in relation to the jacket tube and thus deforming said tube.
