abstract |
The proposed implant system for extra-oral applications provides an opportunity to improve the anchoring of epitheses or bone-conduction hearing aids and is also suitable for providing permanent access inside the body for the administration of stimulants or substances. A further application is the anchoring of orthodontic appliances, thus considerably widening the use of implants to correct tooth formation. Essential components of the system are a primary part (1) which can be screwed into the bone with early and increased stability and an extra-oral secondary part which improves skin stabilisation. In the primary part (1) the design of the threaded section (5) and the head (2) is decisive. The proposal also concerns an anti-rotation device against unintentional loosening of screwed-on secondary parts, and a special threading tool and moulding device. |
