abstract |
A method for controlling a direct injection internal combustion engine (1) by measuring both the degree of actuation (PP) of an accelerator pedal (4) and the engine speed (N) to provide optimal engine tuning parameters (Ti; ζi; All; αP). According to the method, a table showing the pressure/air temperature (RPTO) ratio in the intake manifold is established, during engine tune-up, for each degree of actuation (PP)/speed (N) pair; the pressure (Pcol) and temperature (Tcol) of the intake air are measured during normal operation, and the measured pressure/temperature ratio (RPTm) is formed; the opening angle (αP) of a throttle (9) in the intake manifold is adjusted to make said ratio (RPTm) dependent on a set value read out of the table; and reverse reading of the table is performed to determine a virtual degree of accelerator pedal actuation (PPV) on the basis of the measured speed (N) and ratio (RPTm), thereby providing at least one of the optimal engine tuning parameters. |
