abstract |
A process for treating a light cracked naphtha (2) in a catalytic distillation column (10) in which mercaptans and diolefins are removed simultaneously using a Pd catalyst (12). The treated naphtha is subsequently etherified. The mercaptans and diolefins are reacted to form sulfides which are removed as bottoms (8) from the distillation column. Any diolefins not converted to sulfides are selectively hydrogenated to monolefins for use in the etherification process. |
