abstract | A process for stabilising the viscosity of siloxane npolymer of the general formula n R" 3-b X b -SiO-(R" 2 SiO) n -SiO-X b -R" 3-b (I) n wherein R" is a hydrocarbon, X is R", hydroxyl, or alkoxy, b nis 1, 2 or 3, and n is an integer with a value such that the nviscosity of the siloxane polymer at 25°C is in the range nfrom 1 to 100,000 mm 2 /s, which process comprises adding an nalcohol of the general formula R'OH, wherein R' is alkyl, to n(i) siloxane polymer of formula (I) or (ii) organosilicon nprecursors of siloxane polymers of formula (I), and allowing nthe alcohol to react with the siloxane polymer or norganosilicon precursors. |
