Pharmacologically active glycosides of formula (I) are claimed: Q = a gp. of formula (i); R = H, a glycosidically-bound hexose residue or a group of two or more hexose residues; Z = H or a group of formula (A): or Z = a group of formula (B): or the glycoside has the formula (II): Z<1> = a glycosidic residue or (A) or (B). Pharmacologically active indane derivs. of formula (III) are also claimed: R<1>, R<2> = -O-X; X = H, 1-6C alkyl (opt. substd.) e.g. arylalkyl or aryl (opt. substd.), or one or more ester-bonded hexose residues; or R<1>+R<2> = O or O-Y-O; Y = bivalent organic residue, esp. an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic carbohydrate residue; R<3>-R<6> = H, alkyl (opt. substd.), cycloalkyl (opt. substd.), aryl (opt. substd.) or an acyl residue of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid, or one or more hexose residues. |
