abstract To monitor and determine the concentration of harmful organic substances like polychlorinated compounds, especially polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxines and furanes in a flow of exhaust gas freed from dust, e.g. at a chimney outlet, both the mixing temperature and the moisture content of the partial exhaust gas flow is controlled by mixing the gas directly before the pollutants are separated without altering the components by taking a representative partial flow via an extractor line with the addition of a gas, e.g. air or nitrogen, before its analysis. The pollutants are separated at temperatures of between 40 and 100 DEG C, preferably 40 - 60 DEG C. There are a control device (3) and a temperature and flow-rate controlled supply of a gas (4) to a mixing device (8) so that the partial exhaust gas flow is extracted at a steady rate. A measuring device (6) for the extracted gas mixture with volume, temperature, pressure and oxygen measuring facilities is mounted after the fine dust filter.
