titleOfInvention LIQUID DISPENSER
abstract This invention is an apparatus (12) for accurately infusing large volumes of fluids into a patient at specific rates over an extended period of time. The apparatus (12) includes one or more dispensers (14, 16) of a low profile, laminate or layered construction each having a stored energy source in the form of a distendable membrane or an elastomeric cellular mass, which in cooperation with a base (22), defines a fluid chamber having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The apparatus further includes a support (26) for supporting the dispensers (14, 16) in a coupled relationship with a manifold system (28) which has an outlet (34) to which an administration set can be connected. In one form of the invention, the apparatus also includes a filling vial (18) assembly that can be coupled with the dispensers (14, 16) to fill the fluid chambers thereof with the fluids to be infused.
