abstract |
A water-absorbent resin is produced by dispersing a solid blowing agent with an average particle diameter in the range of 1 to 100 νm in an aqueous solution containing an unsaturated monomer and a cross-linking agent and polymerizing the monomer. The resin is excellent in the ability to diffuse aqueous liquids and in water absorption characteristics such as the rate of water absorption, water retention capacity and dry touch, and is reduced in the contents of water-soluble components and residual monomers. Sanitary materials prepared from a composition of this resin are improved in the rate of water absorption and water retention capacity and can avoid leakage. |
