titleOfInvention Ceramic sliding part
abstract Object: to provide a sliding part, which is formed by combining a crown-shaped sliding surface-carrying sliding surface member with a base material, especially, a sliding part, such as a valve gear part of an automobile engine, a cam follower and a rocker arm. Constitution: a ceramic sliding part of a structure in which a sliding surface-forming ceramic member (1) is combined with a metal base material (2), the crowning rate of the sliding surface being 0.1 % to not less than 0.4 % of a maximum length of the joint surface of the ceramic member. The ceramic material has a 4-point bending strength in accordance with JIS R1601 of not lower than 500 MPa, and the metal base member comprises mainly steel, and preferably a metal material having martensite texture in at least the outer surface thereof and a hardness of HRC > 45. A ceramic sliding part uses an intermediate layer of a metal or cermet. The combining of a sliding surface member of a crown-shaped ceramic material and the forming of a metal base member are done simultaneously, or the sliding surface of the metal base member is hardened by heating after it has been combined with the sliding surface member. Effect: a sliding part having a high crowning rate in which defective portions including cracked portions rarely occur can be provided at a low price.
