titleOfInvention Improved process for the continuous preparation of poly-epsilon caprolactones
abstract Poly-ε-caprolactones are produced by continuous polymerization of ε-caprolactone in a melt in an extruder (reactive extrusion) when used as a polymerization initiator for aluminum trialkoxides, at least one alkoxy radical of which comprises, in addition to the atom of oxygen constituting the aluminoxane bond (Al-O) at least one other oxygen atom. Advantageously, this oxygen atom is present in the form of an ester or ether function. These initiators are generally in the form of a liquid at room temperature and are moreover miscible with ε-caprolactone, so that they can be used in the absence of solvent.n n n The appropriate adjustment of the feed rates of the extruder in ε-caprolactone and in initiator allows the custom manufacturing of poly-ε-caprolactones having pre-established weight average molecular weights.
