abstract The process for generating synthesis images comprises the projection of facets of the scene in 3D on a sphere (7) whose center is the observation point and whose surface has been cut particularly in elementary areas associated to the pixels of the image (10), said cutout being carried out in such a way that the orthogonal projections of said areas on a reference plane passing through the observation point and perpendicular to the scene view axis have the same value. The applications concern the generation of distance or visibility images, the radiosity.
