abstract | The subject invention provides for a process for producing energy which comprises contacting an H-containing substance which is in a fluid phase with an Li-containing substance under conditions such that the reaction Li + H → 2He* + Energy occurs. The process of the subject invention allows significantly reduced generation of gaseous pollutants, including carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and sulfur oxides, in the production of useful energy from the combustion of a variety of hydrogen-containing fuels, such as hydrocarbon fuels. |
