abstract | A process for producing a graft polyolefin at an improved efficiency by melt kneading a polyolefin, a radical-polymerizable monomer and a radical polymerization initiator together. The graft reaction is conducted by feeding one of the monomer and the initiator to a molten polyolefin containing the other of them. When the monomer is an unsaturated carboxilic anhydride, it is heat treated at a temperature in the range of 50 to 250 °C before the reaction. When the monomer is an unsaturated carboxylic acid itself or an anhydride thereof, an organic peroxide represented by general formula (I) is used as the polymerization initiator; wherein the two substituents bonded to the benzene ring are positioned ortho or meta relative to each other; and R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are the same or different from one another and each represents hydrogen or C1-C10 alkyl. |
