abstract |
Compounds of formula (1) Ar-NH- (CH₂) ₃-SO₂- (CH₂) ₂-OSO₃M (1) are prepared by using a compound of formula (2) with 2-mercaptoethanol to a compound of formula (3) Ar-NH- (CH₂) ₃-S- (CH₂) ₂-OH (3) at temperatures of 90 to 270 ° C in the presence of a catalytic amount of base, then the compound of formula (3) is oxidized to a compound of formula (4) Ar-NH- (CH₂) ₃-SO₂- (CH₂) ₂-OH (4), and finally esterifying the compound of formula (4) with at least one mole equivalent of sulfuric acid, oleum or halosulfonic acid to give a compound of formula (1). n n n Compounds of formula (1) are valuable starting compounds for the production of reactive dyes. |
