SIDE FLOW TITRATION DEVICE FOR MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS AND SAMPLE EXTRACTION SYSTEM |
abstract |
The present invention provides a one-step method of detecting analytes in a sample which require extraction prior to detection using test device (5). A sample-bearing swab (40) is inserted into the cylindrical portion (14) of extraction chamber (10) through the bowl (12). The extraction solution (42) is applied to the swab and the extracted sample flows through the exit port (16) to the sample receiving zone (30). The sample flows laterally through the labelling zone (32) and is captured in the capture zone (34) with excess sample being absorbed by the absorbent zone (36). The results are observed through the observation window (20) of the top plate (7) when a distinct color change is seen through the end-of-assay window. |
