abstract The present invention relates to a method for the cultivation of lipid-dependent tetrahymenides, so-called lipid requirer or fastidious species, in particular of Tetrahymena setosa, and a method for the production of biogenic materials from lipid-dependent tetrahymenides, in particular of enzymes, which are secreted by the lipid-dependent tetrahymenids into the surrounding medium , of such enzymes that are cell-associated and of polyunsaturated fatty acids.n n n Lipid-dependent tetrahymenids (lipid requirer) can be successfully mass-grown on skim milk medium or a medium consisting essentially of cottonseed flour. Biogenic materials can be isolated from the cell homogenates and from the culture supernatants using suitable methods.
