The invention concerns 14 alpha ,15 alpha -methylene oestradiol esters in which the 17-hydroxy group and/or the 3-hydroxy group is esterified. These esters are suitable for use, in conjunction with pharmaceutical auxiliaries, as drugs, in particular as contraceptive agents or anticlimacterics. They exhibit an oestrogenic action which is precisely defined compared with that of ethinyl oestradiol or naturally occurring oestrogens, and are preferably administered orally. Not only are the side-effects of customary contraceptive agents thus reduced, but oestrogen-substitution therapy is significantly improved. |
