Method and apparatus for cleaning with high pressure liquids at low flow rates |
abstract |
A high pressure water cleaning method and apparatus is disclosed where abrasive particles (172) are injected into a high pressure water spray within a nozzle mixing chamber (320) at an incidence angle (MA, MA') and velocity sufficient for these particles to penetrate and mix with a high velocity core of the spray (FS). The spray pattern preferably does not touch at least one outlet passage wall downstream of the mixing chamber to provide an exit path (AG) for the particle transport gas, and an axis (CL) of the spray pattern may be offset (OS) from the center (SC) of the outlet passage (302). A pair of differential pressure regulators (65, 172) are used to closely control a selected pressure differential between a media container (170) and a transport gas conduit (38, 82) which feeds the abrasive particles into the container (170). |
