Implant comprises, (1) a biocompatible support for anchorage of cells; (2) cells (natural or recombinant) able to express and secrete a specific cpd. (I), e.g. a therapeutic agent, and (3) a cpd. (II) that induces and/or promotes gelling of the cells. Also new are (1) compsns. comprising this implant and at least one other cpd., esp. an antigen or adjuvant; (2) a retroviral vector contg. modified proviral DNA (lacking at least part of the gag, pol and env genes, so that replication and recombination to wild type virus is impossible; also the long terminal repeat (LTR) has a deletion in the U3 sequence so that transcription of mRNA under its control is reduced at least 10 fold), and exogenous sequence under control of an exogenous (constitutive or inducible) promoter; (3) recombinant cells, immunologically tolerated when introduced into a host, contg. such a vector. |
