abstract The present invention relates to a catheter for insertion into the urethra with the intention of tapping urine from the bladder, wherein the catheter comprises an elongated catheter body (10) of circular cross section and at least one thickening (11; 12; 13; 14). According to the invention, the catheter body (10) and at least one thickening (11; 12; 14) is comprised of an electrically conductive synthetic material or includes an electrically conductive material. The end of the catheter body (10) opposite to the insertion end thereof includes means for connecting the catheter body to a low voltage source.
