abstract A laser apparatus includes a laser crystal (21) composed of a fluoride which contains chromium, a resonator (24, 25) which includes the laser crystal and means (11) for exciting the laser crystal. A first laser beam is produced from light which is emitted from the laser crystal (21) and oscillated in the laser resonator (24, 25). At least one optical component (23) is inserted in said resonator. The aperture in the resonator (24, 25) is substantially five or more times the diameter of the first laser beam. A small, low-power SHG laser light source is thus achieved.
