Process for production of inositol and microorganism used therefor |
abstract |
A process for production of inositol comprises the steps of (1) culturing a microorganism capable of extracellularly secreting inositol and belonging to the genus Candida in a medium so as to extracellularly accumulate inositol in the medium; and optionally (2) recovering inositol from the culture. n Preferably, the producer microorganism is resistant to an antibiotic such as cerulenine or D-cycloserine, or resistant to a glucose metabolism antagonist such as 2-deoxyglucose. |
