Stable aqueous solid particle dispersions |
abstract |
A fine solid particle aqueous dispersion comprises dispersed particles of a substantially water insoluble nonpolymeric organic compound useful in imaging and a polymeric dispersant having an HLB number of at least 8. The dispersion can be prepared byn (a) forming a coarse aqueous slurry of solid particles of said compound and a polymeric dispersant having an HLB number of at least 8; and (b) milling said slurry for a period of time sufficient to provide particles of the desired particle size of less than 0.1 micron. Such dispersions can be combined with an imaging vehicle and coated onto a support to form an imaging element, such as a photographic element and a thermal dye transfer element. |
