titleOfInvention Depolymerization agent and method of depolymerizing silicones
abstract In order to decompose silicones and silicone polymers, the invention calls for a depolymerization agent consisting of an alkylbenzenesulphonic acid, in particular dodecylbenzenesulphonic acid, a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon acting as solvent and an inert filler acting as a viscosity-increasing agent. Used as the viscosity-increasing agent is hydrophobic silica with a particle size of about 20 nm. The alkylbenzenesulphonic acid used as the depolymerization reagent cleaves silicones into smaller, readily soluble fragments which can subsequently be washed out and removed.
