titleOfInvention | Developmental regulation in anther tissue of plants |
abstract | The present invention relates generally to the use of genetic engineering to induce developmental regulation in anther tissue of plants, and more particularly to induce nuclear male sterility, and to genetic sequences useful for same. More particularly, the present invention relates to the identification of a genomic clone and promoter capable of tissue- and development-specific expression which provides a means of tissue and developmental regulation in plants and more specifically a means of producing nuclear male sterile plants. Even more particularly, the present invention provides a genomic clone having a nucleotide sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO.1 or homologous sequences thereof such as the nucleotide sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO.3. |
