In a process for the preparation of cyclopropanecarboxamide by amidation of cyclopropanecarboxylic acid esters with ammonia in alcoholic solution at 60 to 200 ° C., the reaction being catalyzed by an alcoholate of a monohydric alcohol, using a cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester of the formula where R is a C₁ to C₃ alkyl or cyclopropyl, high yields achieved even in the absence of a hydrocarbon solvent. |
