Aldehydes with 8 to 17 carbon atoms in the molecule which are substituted in the α-position by an alkyl radical are obtained from the terminal olefins containing one carbon atom less. For this purpose, the olefins are first isomerized in the presence of iron carbonyl and then hydroformylated, without removing the iron compound, in the presence of rhodium as a catalyst. |
