abstract The magnetoresistive component comprises a magnetoresistive strip of the multilayer type folded over in a repeated geometric pattern (7a, 7b), so as to present at least one series of substantially parallel sections (7a, 7b) making it possible to reduce the demagnetizing fields, the magnetoresistive strip ( 2) being formed of a stack (13) of layers (14) of magnetic metallic material, separated by layers (15) of non-magnetic metallic material. The component according to the invention applies to a sensor intended for reading information recorded in magnetic form or for detecting weak magnetic fields. <IMAGE>
