The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for determining the color of a foundation. This device includes: a) means (12) for measuring the color of the skin inside the arm or outside the arm or both inside and outside the arm, preferably in a central region of the forearm in which the color of the veins is not appreciably apparent, thus excluding stained or visible vein parts, b) means (18) for calculating and determining the color of the skin measured by the measuring means (12), these determining means (18) comprising a database containing a range of foundation colors of reference covering substantially a representative sample of a population of individuals concerned, this database containing at least the following data: the color of the skin on the inside of the arm or on the outside of the arm or both on the inside and outside of the arm, preferably in a middle region of the forearm in which the color veins is not appreciably noticeable, thus excluding stained or visible vein parts, a foundation color reference associated with one or more skin colors from said database, c) said determining means (18) comprising means for comparing the measured color of the skin of the person concerned with the skin colors appearing in the database, in order to determine which is the same color or close to the base of data and consequently determine in said database the foundation color associated with this skin color and, advantageously, display means (20) of the determined foundation color. n n n The invention makes it possible to determine the color of a foundation substantially restoring the natural color of a person's skin. |
