abstract | A method of treating tissue necrosis (loss) in an animal. Tissue necrosis is treated by administering to the subject a cellular anti-adhesion agent capable of binding an ICAM-1 antigen, a CD18 antigen, an L-selectin agent, a CD44 antigen, a P-selectin antigen, a VCM- atigenic. 1, an ICAM-2 antigen, or a fragment thereof. The invention also relates to a method for preventing tissue loss or necrosis of thermal origin, in particular thermal lesions and progressive tissue necrosis resulting in burn injuries. Tissue damage of thermal origin surrounding a site of thermal damage is inhibited or prevented by administering to an animal an anti-adhesion agent, such as an anti-CD18 antibody, an anti-ICAM-1 antibody, or a mixture or a fragment of them. In addition, the invention relates to a method of inhibiting / preventing scars appearing after healing of lesions of thermal origin. |
