titleOfInvention Thiodiglycol derivatives, process for producing them and their use for softening textiles
abstract Bisethers of oxidized derivatives of thiodiglycol of general formula (I): R1-O- (C2H4O) x- (C2H4-SOz-C2H4-O) w- (C2H4-O) y-R2 where R1 and R2 = alkyl groups or straight chain or branched alkenyl with 6 to 30 carbon atoms, or hydrogen, x + y = 0 to 20, w = 1 to 5, z = 1 or 2, R1 and R2 may be the same or different, can be prepared by reaction of thiodiglycol with optionally ethoxylated fatty alcohols, followed by oxidation. Condensation takes place suitably in the presence of acidic compounds and the oxidation takes place in particular with hydrogen peroxide. The compounds have use as fabric softeners.
