titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of methylchlorosilane
abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of methylchlorosilanes by reacting comminuted silicon metal with methyl chloride in the presence of a copper-containing catalyst system and optionally other known additives. According to the invention, a catalyst system consisting of copper (I) and copper (II) oxide and metallic copper is used, which has a proportion of metallic copper of at least 30% by weight. In addition to a high dimethyldichlorosilane selectivity (improved T / D ratio) and contact mass productivity, advantages of the invention include a large proportion of 1,1,2-trichlorotrimethyldisilane in the higher-boiling by-products.
