titleOfInvention Optical method and device for analyzing substances on sensor surfaces
abstract The optical method for the analysis of substances is based on the measurement of the propagation properties of surface optical waves on sensor surfaces. Light waves guided in a wave-guiding layer structure in contact with a sample are coupled out with a grating coupler. The coupling region of the grating coupler is imaged on a spatially resolving detector, so that the plane of the wave-guiding layer structure forms the object plane and the detection plane lies in the image plane of the optical image. The light distribution of the decoupled wave field with the detector is measured and used to determine the analytical measurement. The device for carrying out the method consists of a suitable wave-guiding sensor (1, 2) with a grating coupler (3), an imaging optics (9) and an optical detector (10).
