abstract |
The invention describes the preparation and use of nucleic acid fragments encoding fatty acid desaturase enzymes. The invention makes it possible to modify the composition of plant lipids. Chimeric genes incorporating said nucleic acid fragments with appropriate regulatory sequences can be used to create transgenic plants with altered levels of unsaturated fatty acids. |
