titleOfInvention PLIERS FOR MEASURING THE THICKNESS OF THE SKIN FOLD USED FOR THE EVALUATION OF BODY FAT.
abstract Pliers (30) for measuring the thickness of the skin fold, used to evaluate the percentages of body fat and comprising two opposite clamping surfaces (38, 40) mounted on rigid arms (32, 34) which are connected to the level from their lower end by an elastic element (36). The clamp (30) comprises a cantilever arm (46) provided with a practically circular protuberance (48) which adapts to a recess (50) formed in the clamp (30) when the clamping surfaces ( 38, 40) produce a pressure reaching a predetermined level. This produces an audible and tactile signal to the person performing the measurement indicating that the predetermined pressure level has been reached. A slide (58) placed on a measuring scale (52) comes into contact with one (34) of the arms (34, 36) when the clamping surfaces (38, 40) move towards one another and is released when these surfaces (38, 40) move away from each other. The indicator (60) on the slide (58) will thus remain at the place, on the scale (52) where the clamping surfaces (38, 40) have evaluated the thickness of the subcutaneous layer of fat. skin fold.
