New 1,3-dihydro-2H-imidazo (4,5-b) quinolin-2-one derivatives of formula (I) in which R represents hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl, phenyl optionally substituted with 1 to 3 substituents, each independently selected from halo, hydroxy, C1-6 alkyloxy, C5-6 cycloalkyloxy, C1-6 alkyl or trifluoromethyl; pyridinyl; thienyl optionally substituted with halo or C1-6alkyl; and (alpha) represents a radical of the formula (a), (b), or (c); pharmaceutically acceptable addition salts and stereochemically isomeric forms of these derivatives; which are potent inhibitors of phosphodiesterases III and IV and are useful in the treatment of allergic disturbances, atopic diseases and related disorders. The methods of preparation, the pharmaceutical compositions containing said compounds as an active ingredient and the methods of preparing said compounds and said pharmaceutical compositions are described. |
