SYNTHETIC BONE MATRIX. |
abstract |
An osteogenic device capable of inducing the formation of an endochondral bone in a form essentially matching the shape of the device when it is implanted in a host mammal. The device includes an osteogenic protein dispersed in a porous matrix comprising a polymer of collagen and glycosaminoglycan crosslinked at a Mc value of about 800 to about 60,000. A method for inducing bone growth in a mammal is also described, as well as a method for inducing conductive bone growth from viable bones in a mammal. |
