Quenching fluid and its use for quenching metallic articles |
abstract |
The quenching fluid comprises i) water and ii) a copolymer containing, in polymerized form, an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, an ethylenically unsaturated amide and a hydrophobic monomer having limited solubility in water. The maximum cooling rate of the quenching fluid is not considerably higher than the maximum cooling rate of a mineral oil. |
