abstract | The present invention relates to methods for treating autoimmune diseases in humans by administering, to a host suffering therefrom, pharmaceutical compositions containing a therapeutically effective amount of a combination of (A) and (B) in a weight ratio ranging from about 1: 1 to about 1:10 (A: B); where R is OH, NH2, OW, or H; X is H, F, C1, Br, I, OH, OW, NO2, or NH2; Y is H, F, C1, Br, or I; W is (1) or a C1-C12 aliphatic group; Z is an aliphatic or aromatic group C1-C12; X and Y can both vary within the compound; or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts. Is particularly described a composition containing a proportion of 1 to 4 sodium salts of phenyleacetyleglutamine and phenylacetic acid, formulated in both oral and parenteral forms clinically useful in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, vasculitis , insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and multiple sclerosis. |
