An amperometric enzyme electrode for measuring the concentration of an enzyme substrate in a sample has an electrically conductive, porous electrode material (4) with an enzyme (13) immobilized or adsorbed thereon. The electrode material (4) consists of a redox-inactive conductor with a conductive pigment (8 '), a non-conductive binder (8) and a catalytic substance (9) finely distributed therein. According to the invention, it is provided that the catalytic substance (9) of the electrode material (4) is a stable oxide or hydrated oxide of a transition element of the fourth period of the periodic table of the elements, which is embedded in the redox-active conductor. <IMAGE> |
